Hello! My name is Caroline, I'm 25, married with two dogs and I work as a library assistant at one of the many libraries at the University of Georgia. I adore the people I work with, but this isn't my ultimate plan for life. I hope to start working on a Master's degree in nutrition in the not so distant future but I'm having to catch up on a bunch of prerequisites first. My college classes in astronomy and physics don't seem to contribute much to the field of nutrition! My life gets a little hectic with classes and trying to keep in shape. I will be the first to admit that my social life occasionally takesĀ precedenceĀ over blogging.n53300062_30614006_66392

I've dabbled with exercise on and off since sometime in high school. A friend and I would buy Shape magazine every spring and follow their monthly bikini prep workouts. These Shape routines came back into my life in the few months before the wedding courtesy of a free subscription for buying something from some catalog. I can't remember the specifics anymore.

The Husband and I joined a local gym for our six month anniversary, though he didn't last long with his work schedule. We just passed our two and a half year anniversary and I'm letting my membership expire, I haven't used it nearly enough in the past six months to justify the money. I plan to start using the campus gym now that I'm enrolled in classes.

I started running in the spring of 2009 using a plan that you can find a link to on my Workouts page. This March I ran the Disney Princess half marathon and the ING Atlanta half marathon within two weeks of one another. The first was just to see if I could, the second to support a friend who was running the full marathon. It was a lot of fun to be able to run with my best friend and visit all of my old haunts on foot.

My interest in exercise is inspired purely by vanity, I have to admit. Because of my build (larger chest and hips without much of a waist) it doesn't take much for me to look heavier than I actually am. When I do manage to maintain an exercise routine I love to watch the changes in my body as muscles build and develop and layers of fat slowly melt away.

I try to base my meals around fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables. I try to stick to a rather strict food budget and now that summer is here I'm very excited to resume buying my veggies locally at the Athens Farmers Market. I am lactose intolerant and don't find meat worth the money, so I eat a largely vegan diet when left to my own devices. If eating out or with friends I will often indulge in whatever strikes my fancy and don't hold myself to any particular food rules.

I hope you stick around!

It is in fact Omni that I belong to. I'll definitely look into fight club! Does it require any gear (gloves or anything)?

nope! there are usually plenty of hand wraps to borrow, but if you end up liking the class, and taking it often, it's nice to have your own set; they're cheap at academy! it's one of the group personal training classes, so you do have to buy packages, but I bet you could try it out for free if you talk to the front desk- that's the impression I got, anyway. good luck!
